Greetings from the Director

 The Economic and Social Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA-UNP) at the University of Niigata Prefecture was established in April 2023 as a premier academic center dedicated to studying the economies and societies of Northeast Asia. Building on the legacy of the former Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA), the institute aims to become a leading hub for research and academic collaboration in the region, partnering with research institutions locally and globally, positioning ourselves as an open and dynamic research organization.
   Our work focuses on three core areas:
1.Research  Conducting studies on the economies and societies of Northeast Asian countries,
      focusing on China, DPRK, Mongolia, ROK and Russia, as well as advancing research on issues
      related to the economy, industry, and local community of Niigata, Northeast Asia,
      the Asia-Pacific or Eurasia.
2.Education  Leveraging academic insights for education at our university and supporting students’
     international exchange activities.
3.Practical Application  Contributing to regional initiatives involving academia, industry,
     government, and NPOs.
   Our faculty members are committed to high-quality research and education in collaboration with the University of Niigata Prefecture’s faculties and graduate schools.
   We deeply appreciate the support of Niigata’s community and institutions and look forward to continued partnerships that drive meaningful impact.

Profile

Graduated from Moscow Technological Institute of Light Industry, master’s degree in international development from the International University of Japan, and Ph.D. in economics from the Graduate School of Niigata University. Appointed professor at the University of Niigata Prefecture in April 2023 after serving as Director-General at the Ministr y of Agriculture and Industry of Mongolia and Senior Research Fellow at the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia. From 2025, Director of the institute.
