The University of Niigata Prefecture Economic and Social Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA-UNP), an academic base to conduct world-class research centered on socioeconomic research in Northeast Asia, was established in April 2023. We are continuing the research as well as the personnel and information networks of the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA: 1993-2023). Our main purpose is to contribute to the further expansion and deepening of exchanges and human resource development for Niigata Prefecture, enterprises and everyone having expanded multifaceted exchanges with these areas through the research on Northeast Asia.
Our institute has three research pillars: socioeconomic infrastructure research, project research, and social contribution. We promote research on Northeast Asia by inviting a wide range of researchers from Japan and abroad. In human resources education at the undergraduate and graduate schools of the University of Niigata Prefecture, we contribute and work to foster human resources who are rooted in the local community and participate globally while being responsible for the future of Niigata, Japan, Northeast Asia, Asia, and the world.
Our institute holds symposiums and seminars and strives to give back to society with its research findings. As part of this, we provide advice and consultation to enterprises and industries through the Industry-Academia Collaboration Promotion Office that is established within the Institute.
Northeast Asia is not uniform. Difficult situations are emerging in response to international changes. However, deepening knowledge and awareness of each other’s socio-economies is essential in every era as it deepens mutual understanding. We will continue to work hard to deepen mutual understanding and exchange in Northeast Asia. We appreciate your continued support and encouragement.
